This version of a classic whiskey hot toddy is devil-may-care when it comes to proportions, but purist in terms of ingredients. Because the reality is this...when necessity demands a hot toddy, either to soothe the seasonal cold or to warm up frost nipped fingers, I can rarely summon the patience for fiddling with measuring spoons or fancy garnishes. Nevertheless, this plain and practically effortless whiskey hot toddy still feels like drinking liquid gold. Things don't always have to be complicated.

Ingredients for Whiskey Hot Toddy
- raw honey
- lemon juice
- rye whiskey
- hot water from a recently boiled tea kettle
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
Add the honey to a heat-safe mug.
Then add the lemon juice. If you prefer, strain it through a small sieve to catch any seeds.
Add the whiskey.
Finally, add the hot water and stir until the honey dissolves.
Hint: If you can't be bothered to strain the lemon juice, the odd seed or two is unlikely to interfere with your enjoyment of this drink.
