    Rosemary Lemon Drop

    The only thing that is probably better than a lemon drop cocktail is a rosemary lemon drop cocktail. Deeply infused with the intense and woodsy flavor of that unforgettable herb, the key to this irresistible version of the classic lemon drop is an easy rosemary simple syrup. When combined with fresh lemon juice and good vodka, the result is one downright extraordinary drink. The rosemary lemon drop makes a particularly lovely refreshment in the spring and summer, but it is perfectly wonderful just about any time of year.

    Rosemary simple syrup is a key ingredient in this cocktail. Incredibly easy to prepare, it can be made in advance and also keeps for a very long time.

    • vodka
    • fresh lemon juice
    • rosemary simple syrup
    • ice
    • fresh rosemary sprig and lemon twist (to garnish)

    Instructions

    Pale yellow liquid in a steel measuring jigger next to a squeezed half lemon and a small bowl containing a lemon twist and a couple sprigs of rosemary.

    Using a sharp paring knife, cut a strip of lemon peel for the twist. Then juice the lemon.

    Add the lemon juice to the cocktail shaker.

    Pour in the vodka.

    Finally, add the rosemary simple syrup.

    Toss in some ice and shake vigorously. Then strain into a coupe or martini glass.

    Garnish with a fresh sprig of rosemary and lemon twist.

    Hint: Do not be tempted to skip the garnish here. The fresh sprig of rosemary might seem rather unnecessary, but it's worth the effort. That one little flourish delivers a captivating breath of rosemary fragrance each time you take a sip.
